NEW TANKER 8 HAS ARRIVED!
As of Wednesday our new 2007 Seagrave Tanker 8 has arrived and is currently being trained on before it will be put in service. The truck is an absolute gem and has been the subject of much discussion on local Emergency Services Forums. We expect that the addition of this truck to the fleet will greatly increase our efficiency in securing a water supply outside of the hydrant district. The new Tanker 8 has a 3000 tank 1000 Gallon per minute pump 207 inch wheel base and 32 feet overall length. Stainless steel tank cab and body along with a Telma retarderbraking system. The hose bed should hold about 500 feet of 5 inch hose and it has a lot of compartment space. The front compartments are 61 inches wide by 38 inches high and 28 inches deep. the rear compartments are 35 inches wide 38 inches high and 28 inches deep. There is a full width compartment in the cab. This will be the seventh Seagrave apparatus owned by the New Canaan Fire Company 1. The evolution and brand loyalty began with a 1922 pumper Engine 1followed by the 1924 1946 and 1959 pumpers all numbered Engine 2 . Also the 1949 and 2003 ladders both ladder 3.Our hats off to the truck committee specifically ChairmanFirefighter David DiPanni on a job well done.
