FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON PARKWAY
At 836pm Fire and EMS units were dispatched to RT. 15 northbound somewhere between exits 36 and 38 for the MVA with rollover possible ejection possible entrapment and possible fire. Car 1 Engine 4 Rescue 5 and Utility 1 responded on the call with 9 members. Car 1 was the first unit on scene and reported a one car MVA car vs. tree fully involved with entrapment. One half of the car the engine compartment was fully involved with fire and still attached to the tree. The passenger compartment with the occupant trapped was approximately 30 feet ahead resting on the embankment. Car1 established the Merritt command and ordered Engine 4 to go to work on the fully involved engine compartment while Rescue 5 and Utility 1 preformed a rapid extrication on the trapped victim. The fire was under control within 2 minutes and the victim was removed from the car within the 5 minute mark . Rescue 5 returned to service within a hour of arriving however Engine 4 remained on-scene until after midnight to assist the State Police with the investigation.
