BUSY FATHER’S DAY KICKS OFF WITH A WORKING KITCHEN FIRE

At 0810 AM Cars 1 and 2 Engines 1 and 2 Ladder 3 Rescue 5 and Unit 64 were toned out for a possible structure fire with elderly people in the house. New Canaan Police arrived on scene first and quickly determined that all occupants were out and confirmed a working structure fire. Car 1 was the first fire unit on scene and reported he had a 2 12 story wood frame house with fire on the D side and assumed command. Engine 1 arrived on scene and placed two lines in service knocking down the fire within a few minutes. Crews checked for extension ventilated the structure and overhauled the fire room. Command placed the fire under control at 0820 AM. The fire was confined to the kitchen area with the rest of the house suffering smoke damage. Vista Fire Department provided station coverage during the fire and Noroton Heights sent an engine to the scene. No injuries were reported and the Fire Marshals office is investigating. New Canaan Fire went on to handle 7 other emergency calls for that day.
