Special Fire Commission Ceremony

This month’s Fire Commission meeting , held at Waveny’s Lapham Community Center, included a special ceremony to honor achievements by New Canaan’s Bravest.

Rookie firefighters Damien Sheerin and Brian Doane were formally sworn in to duty with New Canaan Fire.

Additionally, two recently promoted officers were sworn in to their new rank. These promotions included Mike Baker as our newest Captain and Duffy Sasser as Group 4’s new Lieutenant.

The Fire Commission also took the opportunity to present a Unit Citation to the 8 man crew that worked a complicated vehicle extrication on October 30 of last year.  These members included Capt. Raidt, Lt Ryan, P/C Ed Karl, FF Pickering, FF Dipanni, FF Aniello, FF Wilson, and FF DeVivo. The young man that the crew worked on that evening (Mike Bivonaa) attend to give his personal thanks to this team.
