SERIOUS APPARATUS CRASH IN CT
The latest on this is that Waterbury CT firefighters responded to a report of a kitchen fire late this morning. As the firefighters were en route to the location an intersection crash occurred between the WFDs Engine 8 and Truck 1. As a result of the crash firefighter Coral Barnes had to be extricated from one of the vehicles by other WFD companies. A total of 8 firefighters were taken to area hospitals….firefighters that were in E-8 Capt. John Keane 37 who was taken to Waterbury Hospital and transferred to YaleNH. His condition was listed as critical with head and internal injuries. Fire Driver Joseph Fischetti 45 who was taken to Waterbury Hospital with head and internal injuries. His condition was also listed as critical. Firefighter William Roberts 36 who was taken to Waterbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Firefighter Chris Beatty 39 was taken to St. Marys Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The firefighters that were in Truck 1 were Acting Officer Coral Barnes 59 who was taken to Waterbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Fire Driver William Mahoney 48 who was taken to St. Marys Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Firefighter Todd Nugai 34 who was taken to St. Marys Hospital treated and released. Firefighter William Unwin 38 who was taken to St. Marys Hospital treated and released. The fire was food on the stove with no extension.
