PONUS RIDGE ROLLOVER

At 2230 Fire And EMS units were sent to the intersection of Ponus Ridge and Frogtown Roads for an MVA with injuries. Units arrived to find one car on its roof and a utility pole split in two. Firefighters could see at least one person still in the car and also had a report of one person possibly ejected. Due to the power lines being down firefighters were unable to get close to the vehicle and were forced to wait for CLP to shut down the power. Before CLP arrived the one occupant in the vehicle was able to self extricate and make it away from the hazard zone to a waiting EMS crew. Once CLP arrived and confirmed the power was off a search was started to look for the second victim. After about 20 minutes command was notified that only one person was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and the search was called off. All Fire units cleared shortly thereafter and the scene was turned over to New Canaan PD. Early the next morning firefighters were called back to stand by while the car was removed from the scene.
