NC’S BRAVEST CALLED TO STRUCTURE FIRE IN THE NORTH WEST END OF TOWN
Shortly after 1420 on Wednesday afternoon Engine 1 Ladder 3 Tanker 8 Engine 2 Rescue 5 Unit 64 NCVAC and a Pound Ridge tanker were dispatched to 1497 Ponus Ridge Road for a possible Structure fire. Initial reports from the 911 caller indicated that contractors sanding the exterior set fire to the home and there was a significant language barrier. Car 3 Engine 1 Ladder 3 Tanker 8 Engine 2 and FM 1 went responding within minutes. Due to the geographical locationnon-hydrant district and distance from the firehouse a tanker from Pound Ridge was dispatched to ensure an adequate water supply should this devolop into a larger incident. Upon arrival Engine 1 confirmed a working fire but believed it to be confined to the exterior surface of the home. After the initial investigation the medical units and Pound Ridge F.D. were released from the call holding it to NCFD only. Upon thorough investigation Engine 1 found no extension of fire to the interior of the home but held Tanker 8 on scene for extensive overhaul operations. New Canaan units operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes before returning back in service. Car 3 had the Ponus Ridge command.
